Guruve Magistrate Court public prosecutor Yolanda Alufasi ,32, has been arraigned before the court on extortion charges.
Between January 19 and 27, 2025, Alufasi allegedly demanded US$200 from Chiedza Mutunami, the sister of Innocent Mutunami, who is currently on remand for motor vehicle theft. She reportedly promised to fast-track the release of Mutunami’s criminal docket from the police and facilitate his bail application in exchange for the payment.
Alufasi was granted bail under strict conditions. She was ordered to deposit US$150 with the clerk of court, surrender her passport, reside at a given address, and report weekly to ZRP Chiwaridzo.
The case is ongoing.
