Mapfumo’s Sex Education gets Emmy award

British television director Runyararo Mapfumo’s Sex Education got the Comedy Series top spot at the 50th edition of the International Emmy Awards.

Mapfumo celebrated her win on Instagram and thanked the crew of Sex Education as well as the awards organisers.

She also shared some of the new and old highlights behind the scenes of the series.

2022 has been great for the UK based British director of Zimbabwean descent.

She was nominated for the 2022 BAFTA emerging talent (fiction) award for her work on Sex Education, Season 3 and named a 2022 'Star of Tomorrow' by Screen Daily.

Mapfumo’s short film Dawn In The Dark has done very well and picked up several selections and nominations. She has also started the journey on her debut feature film.

Sex Education has three seasons available to stream and airs on Netflix.

It is hilarious take mostly on the sex lives of students, staff, and parents of the fictitious Moordale Secondary School.
