Uncle, 25, rapes 14-year-old niece

A 25-year-old uncle who was allegedly left in custody of children whilst their parents had gone to Dubai, has been taken to court accused of raping a 14-year-old.

The accused appeared at the Harare Magistrates' Courts charged with rape.

The State alleges that on an unknown date, the complainant and her other siblings were left in custody of the accused whilst their parents were in Dubai.

It is alleged that the accused, whilst alone with the complainant, asked her to come to his bedroom so that they could watch a movie together and she agreed.

The court heard that while watching the movie, he asked the complainant if she was a virgin, and she confirmed.

It is alleged that he then removed his pants and trousers to knee level. He then asked the complainant to touch his private part.

He reportedly told the complainant that he wanted to teach the complainant how to kiss and complainant to draw closer to him, and they kissed each other.

He went on to ask the complainant to remove her clothes, and she complied, and he instructed her not to make noise and lay on his bed.

He then had sexual intercourse without any protection. After that, the accused went back to his workplace, and the complainant cleaned her stained clothes and did not disclose the matter to anyone.

After two weeks, the accused again had sexual intercourse with the complainant in his bedroom without her consent. The court heard that the accused had sexual intercourse with the complainant several times on different occasions even after they had been caught by the complainant's younger sister.

The matter was revealed when complainant was confronted by her parents about the issue.
