Zimbabwe has made significant progress in preparing to host the 15th Meeting of the Contracting Parties to the Convention on Wetlands (COP15), scheduled to take place from July 23 to 31, 2025, at the Elephant Hills Hotel in Victoria Falls.

Speaking after a Cabinet briefing, Acting Minister of Environment, Climate, and Wildlife, Honourable Mangaliso Ndlovu, said the country is on track to successfully host the prestigious global event.

“The nation is informed that, following Zimbabwe’s successful bid to host COP15, significant milestones have already been achieved in preparation for the conference,” said Minister Ndlovu.

The high-profile event, running under the theme "Protecting Wetlands for Our Common Future," is expected to attract global environmental experts, policymakers, and conservationists. The minister assured the nation that preparations are at an advanced stage, with the necessary conference facilities already identified.

“The COP15 website is now operational, and registration for foreign delegates is already underway. Registration for local participants will commence in early March 2025,” he added.

Zimbabwe aims to use the event as an opportunity to showcase its premier tourist attractions, including the world-renowned Victoria Falls, Zambezi National Park, and the Kasibo Wetland.

The minister expressed optimism that the conference would enhance the country’s standing in global conservation efforts.
