On Saturday, March 8, 2025, music lovers and jazz enthusiasts will gather at Sherwood Golf Club to commemorate the life and legacy of Zimbabwe's legendary jazz musician, Bob Nyabinde. The event will feature live performances from his son Agga Nyabinde and fellow musician Victor Kunonga, both of whom continue to carry forward the jazz and Afro-fusion traditions that Bob Nyabinde was known for.

Bob Nyabinde, affectionately known as "The Headmaster," was one of the most celebrated figures in Zimbabwean music, renowned for his timeless hits like Chabuda Hapana and Pane Nyaya. His music was admired for its storytelling, social commentary, and smooth fusion of jazz melodies. Beyond his music, Bob Nyabinde mentored many younger musicians, leaving a lasting impact on the Zimbabwean music scene.

In his remarks about the commemoration, Agga Nyabinde shared the deep significance of the event for his family. “This commemoration means a lot to us; it’s the first since the departure of The Headmaster. We want to assure his fans that the legacy will continue forever,” Agga explained. He also shared plans to include unreleased songs his father had written in his future albums, ensuring that his father's creative spirit remains alive in his music.

Victor Kunonga, known for his soulful and politically conscious sound, will also grace the stage. His fusion of jazz with traditional Zimbabwean rhythms makes him a fitting performer for an event that celebrates the rich cultural and musical heritage of Zimbabwe.

This commemoration is more than just a remembrance; it is a celebration of Zimbabwean jazz and the enduring influence of Bob Nyabinde on generations of musicians. Set against the backdrop of Sherwood Golf Club, the evening promises to be a memorable celebration of music, culture, and the legacy of a true icon.
