The Cabinet has approved the Pipelines Amendment Bill, introducing stricter penalties for violations and enhancing measures to safeguard the country’s pipeline infrastructure.

The approval was announced on Tuesday during a post-Cabinet briefing by Information, Publicity, and Broadcasting Services Minister Jenfan Muswere.

The bill seeks to strengthen the legal framework by prohibiting unauthorised activities within the pipeline reserve.

“The amendment will impose stiffer penalties as well as provide for the inspection and maintenance of the pipeline reserve,” Muswere stated.
