Fugitive Armed Robber Luke Zinyengere Arrested

The Zimbabwe Republic Police has confirmed the arrest of 29-year-old Luke Zinyengere, a suspect involved in armed robbery, unlawful possession of a firearm, and an alleged escape from lawful custody.

ZRP spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi announced that Zinyengere’s relatives, including his younger brother, Tatenda Zinyengere ,19, as well as Kelvin Chinganga ,31, Siphelile Zinyengere, and Obey Rwaendepi ,28, have also been arrested for their involvement in aiding his escape.

According to preliminary investigations, Tatenda Zinyengere allegedly supplied the revolver pistol used in the escape, as well as the weapon involved in robbing Tinashe Chiyamuro of his Mazda Demio vehicle. 

Following the robbery, Luke Zinyengere reportedly abandoned the stolen car along Kaguvi Street in Harare. He later joined the other suspects in an attempt to flee the country.

Commissioner Nyathi emphasized the importance of public cooperation with law enforcement, warning against the consequences of harbouring criminals and obstructing justice.
