Chinese Medical Team Highlights Traditional Wellness at ZITF 2025

Four Chinese doctors from the 22nd China Medical Team, invited by the Chinese Embassy, showcased traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) culture at the 65th edition of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) in Bulawayo, captivating visitors with acupuncture, cupping, herbal remedies, and wellness practices. The event underscored China-Zimbabwe health cooperation and cultural exchange. 

 

TCM Demonstrations Draw Crowds

Dr.Xiao and Dr.Xiong from the China Medical Team demonstrated acupuncture, moxibustion, and cupping, explaining their 2,000-year-old origins in pain relief and holistic health. Attendees tried the therapies firsthand, praising their immediate benefits. The duo also highlighted natural herbal remedies for preventive care.

Chinese Herbal Tea Wins Hearts

Dr. Li and Dr. Gao from the China Medical Team, dressed in the traditional Chinese costume, served a health-boosting tea blend of goji berries, chrysanthemum, and dried tangerine peel—all natural, additive-free, and celebrated for aiding immunity and digestion. “Delicious and healthy! exclaimed a visitor, reflecting widespread enthusiasm.

Tai Chi Unite Crowds

The team masterfully led vibrant group sessions of Tai Chi, an ancient practice that harmonizes mental and physical well-being. Participants eagerly embraced the graceful, flowing movements, finding a sense of calm and strength within. Many were so inspired that they vowed to incorporate these routines into their daily lives, eager to reap the long-term benefits of this timeless discipline.

Vice President Praises Collaboration 

On April 25, Zimbabwe’s Vice President Constantino Chiwenga visited the TCM culture exhibition area, where he highly praised the China Medical Team for their significant role in strengthening bilateral ties. He expressed deep appreciation for their efforts, stating, “Sharing medical knowledge empowers our people to live healthier lives.”

Bridging Health and Culture

Since arriving in Zimbabwe, the 22nd Chinese Medical Team has supported local healthcare through training, public campaigns, and now cultural outreach. “Health transcends borders. We’re proud to share TCM while learning from Zimbabwe’s traditions,” said the director of the Zimbabwe-China TCM Center, Dr. Xiao Zhiqiang .

The Chinese Embassy emphasized its commitment to fostering mutual understanding through such exchanges, paving the way for a healthier future.
