A tragic bus accident occurred this morning at the Fairmile Motel traffic circle in Gweru, claiming the lives of six people, including a baby. The Harare-bound Ehungwe bus, which was coming from Botswana, overturned, leaving several passengers injured.
Emergency services, including police officers and Gweru City Council firefighters, responded swiftly to the scene, working to free trapped passengers from the wreckage. The bodies of the deceased were moved into a police van.
Commissioner Partson Nyabadza, the Officer Commanding Police in Midlands Province, was at the scene and confirmed that six people died on the spot. He said authorities are currently following up on the condition of those who were rushed to hospital.
An investigation is underway, with efforts being made to obtain the passenger manifest to account for everyone who was on board.
