Man axes brother over suspected affair with wife

A man from Pumula North suburb in Bulawayo struck his brother with an axe on Friday over suspicions the brother was having an affair with the assailant's his wife.

Bhekinkosi Moyo, 26, struck his unidentified 25-year-old brother once on the head and right leg then ran away, leaving his brother lying in a pool of blood.

The young brother was rushed to Mpilo Central Hospital where he is admitted.

Bulawayo Acting provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele said Moyo approached his younger brother who lives at the same house while he sat on the chair.

“Moyo accused him of having an affair with his wife. A misunderstanding arose between them and Moyo produced an axe from his trousers and struck the complainant,” Ass Insp Msebele said.

She urged members of the public to involve third parties in resolving disputes instead of taking the law into their own hands, resorting to violence in the process.

“We are also appealing to members of the public who might have information on the whereabouts of Moyo to contact any nearest police station,” said Asst Insp Msebele.
