Zimbabwe’s Warriors bowed out of the COSAFA Cup despite ending their campaign with a spirited 3-1 victory over Mozambique.
Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya was the standout performer, scoring a well-taken brace to put Zimbabwe in control. Mozambique pulled one back, but Junior Makunike’s stoppage-time strike sealed the win.
The result saw Zimbabwe finish Group A level on four points with South Africa.
However, the Warriors were edged out on goal difference, ending their hopes of reaching the next stage.
Zimbabwe’s earlier results proved costly. A frustrating draw against Mauritius in their opener and a defeat to South Africa left them needing a big win over Mozambique and other results to go their way—an outcome that ultimately didn’t materialize.
Despite the early exit, the Warriors' final performance offered a glimpse of their potential moving forward.
