Munyaradzi Mhonda, a young footballer from Pams Academy, is attracting national attention with his standout performances and maturity on the field.
The defensive midfielder, known as a defensive link (D-link), has earned endorsements from his coach and peers, with strong indications he is ready to represent Zimbabwe at the Under-17 level.
Despite his small physical frame, Mhonda has demonstrated remarkable composure and football intelligence this season. He has started every game, contributing seven assists and scoring two goals — impressive statistics for a player in his position. His ability to read the game and influence play has made him a vital part of the Pams Academy squad.
“He is now ready for Under-17,” said Coach Pamhirwa, who has played a key role in mentoring Mhonda. “I positively stand with Mhonda as he knows how to stand, play as a D-link.”
Mhonda’s skill set has not gone unnoticed by fellow players. Author, a midfielder at Chegutu Pirates and a fellow product of Pams Academy, praised Mhonda’s game intelligence, noting that his impact on the field belies his stature. “Looking at his body, you could judge him until you see his play,” Author remarked.
Off the pitch, Mhonda’s discipline and character further distinguish him. According to Coach Pamhirwa, his conduct sets a standard at the academy and endears him to fans and teammates alike. “This young man is very disciplined, more than anyone else at the academy, and his behaviour makes fans love him more,” Pamhirwa said.
When asked about a potential national team call-up, Mhonda expressed confidence and readiness. “I’m very confident I can stand as a D-link at the Under-17 if the chances awaken,” he stated.
With consistent performances, a strong work ethic, and increasing support from the football community, Munyaradzi Mhonda is shaping up to be one of Zimbabwe’s young talents in development.
