The Carling Black Label National Pool Tournament has returned with renewed energy and broader national reach, promising thrilling competition and bigger rewards for Zimbabwe's pool enthusiasts.
Organised in partnership with the Zimbabwe Pool Association (ZIPA), the tournament has become a staple on the local sporting calendar, fostering talent and transforming bars and bottle stores into competitive arenas across the country. Now in its eleventh year, the tournament continues to gain momentum, offering a platform for amateur players to shine while supporting small businesses hosting the games.
This year, five new towns—Plumtree, Chegutu, Nyanga, Chirundu, and Kariba—have joined the tournament’s growing circuit, marking a significant expansion in grassroots participation.
Regional qualifiers began on May 31 and will run for ten weeks, concluding on August 2. Registration is open through WhatsApp (0714 828 725) or USSD (*788#), with male and female categories expected to attract a large number of contenders.
Participants will battle for attractive cash prizes and top honours:
1st place: US$2,500 and a professional pool table
2nd place: US$1,500
3rd place: US$1,000
4th place: US$500
To ensure fairness and professionalism throughout the tournament, more than 60 referees have been trained nationwide, reflecting Carling Black Label and ZIPA’s commitment to integrity in sport.
The finals are scheduled for August 9, with the venue to be announced in the coming weeks.
“Champions deserve a champion beer,” read the official statement from Delta Beverages, the tournament sponsor and leading beverage producer in Zimbabwe.
