Zimbabwean singer Shashl is set to launch her latest album, The First Quarter, at a live event on June 21, 2025, at the 7 Arts Theatre in Avondale, Harare.
Confirming the release, Shashl, born Ashleigh Moyo, said: “I’m excited to announce that I’ll be releasing my album The First Quarter on June 21 at 7 Arts Theatre. This project means a lot to me.”
The upcoming album follows the success of her 2024 extended play Butterflies and includes recent singles such as Softly and Remedy, which showcase her evolving Afro-pop and R&B style.
“Softly, produced by Tamuka and Stubborn Beats, is a soulful track that delves into themes of love and resilience,” she said.
The music video for Softly was shot in Tanzania and directed by Kenny.
Shashl has made a mark in Zimbabwe’s music scene with notable collaborations that have expanded her appeal across genres.
She featured on the chart-topping track Ghetto Buddies with rapper Holy Ten and worked with Nutty O on the popular love jam Loving You.
Her collaborations have earned her critical acclaim for her vocal range and ability to blend seamlessly into both hip-hop and dancehall-infused beats.
Shashl is Zimbabwe’s first female artist to be signed under Universal Music Africa, a milestone that has propelled her career onto the continental stage.
Since her 2017 debut single No More, Shashl has built a strong catalogue, including hits like Tender, Blow It in the Wind, and Sorry.
The First Quarter album launch on June 21 is expected to feature live performances from the new project and draw fans, fellow musicians, and key industry stakeholders.
