Zimbabwe’s 18-year-old female swimmer, Donata Katai has endorsed the country’s first gold medal in the ongoing Africa Union Sports Council Region 5 Games.
She bagged two gold medals from the 200 metres backstroke and 100 metres backstroke.
In a Facebook post, the Ministry of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation said the Zimbabwe Swimming Team earned as many Bronze Medals, with Donata racking in two gold medals and they have said they want more medals from the boys and girls.
Swimming at the AUSC Region 5 games for Zimbabwe has also brought two silver medals with Cory Werret coming second in the boys’ backstroke and the other silver medal came from the Mixed 4 by 100metres freestyle relay represented by Benjamin Rorke, Tanatsirwa Chitsirura, Mikayla Makwabarara and Cory Werret.
