Gospel fans who made it to The Shift at Celebration Centre last night (Saturday) enjoyed a brilliant performance from main attraction, USA musician Travis Greene.
The patrons who included notables like Janet Manyowa, Steve Vickers, Mudiwa Hood and Prince Mafukidze- filled up the auditorium got their money’s worth as Travis Greene and the 6 member band gave it their all.
Travis’s commanding stage presence had the crowd entranced all the way.
He kicked off with a few traditional hymns before moving on to his popular songs such as Nara, Dependable and Made A Way, which was one of the crowd’s favorites.
Travis was also accompanied by his wife Dr Jaqueline Greene, who shared a powerful testimony about the birth of their son and a closed in prayer.
The show was presented by Yvonne Tivatye who put up a flawless act.
DJ Jefferson Muserera kicked off the night's vibe with a gospel playlist which mixed local, regional and internal songs. He set the mood for the rest of the show as he got the crowd to and dance and sing along.
Upcoming musician, 17 year old Samantha Mundo was up next. Then Joyful Praise did their thing raising the ante with Mbiri Nerumbidzo and Ngoro Yeminana, getting the whole auditorium to sing along.
Downside to the show was the time that Minister Mahendere’s band took to set up. But the crowd refused to have their joy balloon punctured and kept their buoyance by singing Mahendere’s Makanaka Jesu and l am blessed, while they waited for him.
And when he finally came on stage he did not disappoint. His Tangai Neni rendition was enough of an apology to the forgiving audience.
Pastor G’s former backing vocalist Psalmist Hubert presented a powerful worship line up including In His Presence and Latter Rain. Ezekiel Paul and Minister Mahendere joined him for his finale.
Takesure Zamar performed Changamire Muponesi and Ndoda Mwari.
Pastor Bonnie Deuschle and the Celebration choir did not disappoint as they started off with an African medley which included songs like Hakuna Wakaita sa Jesu and Fire Fire Vhangeri.
The drum work and saxophone was unique and impressive.
Set Up events founder Pastor Tino said The Shift 2022 was the first of more to come as there are plans to do two shows next year.
