A Club Mandisa bar lady who was arrested for stealing US$1 000 from her employer had the bail of ZWL$80 000 she had been granted cancelled by the court after she failed to provide her permanent residential address.

The Mutare club is owned by Bornface Nyamanhindi.

The bar lady, Tanyaradzwa Meda, 22, appeared before Mutare magistrate Perseverance Makala, who remanded her in custody to December 20, 2022, after she pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The State led by Loice Kadenha said that on November 15, 2022 at 3am, the accused took US$1 093.00 from her sales and went away unnoticed, converting the money to her own use.

“At 7am the complainant was called by his general hand that she wanted to clean the shop but all the doors were locked. The complainant tried to call the accused person but her phone was not reachable.

“He proceeded to the CCTV to check what had transpired and discovered that the accused had proceeded to her room where she packed all her belongings and jumped into a black Toyota Raum that was waiting for her outside,” said Kadenha.

Nyamanhindi discovered that all the money from the sales had been stolen. Meda was arrested by police details at House Number 2086 Highfield, Harare.

Magistrate Makala had initially consented to ZWL$80 000 bail but reversed it after Meda failed to give the court her permanent residential address.
