The Zimbabwe Republic Police has confirmed a tragic fire incident that claimed the life of a woman in Eastview, Harare, on Sunday night.
The fire broke out on 25 August 2025 at around 10:00 pm, engulfing a wooden cabin where the victim, 47-year-old Sanisai Kandowe, was sleeping.
Police said the cabin was quickly consumed by flames, leaving her body burnt beyond recognition.
ZRP spokesperson confirmed the incident, saying investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire. “We can confirm that a woman, aged 47, died in a fire that broke out in Eastview.
"Her body was reduced to ashes. We are currently conducting investigations to establish the source of the fire,” the police said.
