Rutendo Hazel Chiveso, 42, the Director of Genemax Logistics (Pvt) Ltd, appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Court facing serious charges related to customs violations. She has been accused of contravening the Customs and Excise Act through the falsification of invoices, false representation, and forgery.

According to court proceedings, the alleged offences took place between March and April 2025, when Chiveso reportedly facilitated the importation of two containers, declaring them as agricultural implements. However, a post-clearance inspection and audit by the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) revealed the containers held clothing, Tupperware, and other non-agricultural items.

This misrepresentation is said to have led to a revenue loss of approximately USD 79,986.58 in import duty and VAT.

The court noted that a range of documentary evidence — including both original and falsified bills of lading, commercial invoices, and importation documents — along with witness testimonies, will be presented during the trial.

Chiveso was granted bail and is expected to return to court on 30 September 2025 for further proceedings.
