Zimbabwe and Namibia are set to clash in a three-match Twenty20 International series at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo next week as both teams fine-tune their preparations for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier 2025.

The series, confirmed by Zimbabwe Cricket, will be played on 15, 16, and 18 September, with free entry for fans eager to witness the action.

The matches carry extra significance as both sides look to build momentum ahead of the regional qualifier, which will take place in Harare from 26 September to 4 October.

Eight teams are scheduled to compete in that tournament, with only the top two earning tickets to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 in India and Sri Lanka.

Zimbabwe will face Namibia with the same squad that recently tested Sri Lanka in a gripping three-match T20I series in Harare. Although the visitors ultimately triumphed 2-1, the home side’s performances offered plenty of encouragement.

Head coach Justin Sammons believes the upcoming series provides exactly the sort of challenge Zimbabwe needs to sharpen their edge before the qualifier.

“It’s important that we build on the positives from the Sri Lanka series, and facing Namibia will give us exactly the kind of contest we need before the qualifier,” Sammons said.

“They are a quality team who have consistently performed well in this format, so these matches will demand our very best. For us, it’s about refining our plans, getting combinations right, and making sure we go into the qualifier confident and battle-hardened.”

Namibia, who have established themselves as one of Africa’s most consistent sides in T20 cricket, are expected to provide stern opposition.

Their recent record suggests they will arrive in Bulawayo eager to make a statement against a full-strength Zimbabwe outfit led by experienced skipper Sikandar Raza.

Zimbabwe’s squad includes Brendan Taylor, Sean Williams, Ryan Burl, Wellington Masakadza, and Blessing Muzarabani, alongside exciting younger players such as Brian Bennett, Dion Myers, and Tinotenda Maposa.
