The Zimbabwe Republic Police has arrested a foreign national in connection with a case of illegal gold possession at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport.
Police confirmed that on 8 September 2025, detectives from the Minerals, Flora, and Fauna Unit in Harare acted on a tip-off and arrested Fan Luping, 39.
“The suspect was arrested in connection with a case of possessing 34.6 grams of gold without a permit. He was apprehended while attempting to check out at the airport,” the ZRP said in a statement.
The police urged the public to refrain from engaging in illegal dealings in precious minerals.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police warns individuals and syndicates involved in the smuggling of precious minerals that the law will take its course.
"The public is encouraged to continue supplying information to assist police operations,” the statement added.
