The Zimbabwe Nurses Association has threatened to go on strike if the suspensions of nurses in Mashonaland East are not lifted within 48 hours.
The association claims that the suspensions were carried out in a heavy-handed manner, undermining efforts to resolve the matter through dialogue.
According to a letter from the ZNA, the dispute centers on flexible working hours, which the association maintains do not deviate from the normal expectations of nurses.
While the association is willing to engage in dialogue to reach a resolution, it has warned that if the suspensions are not lifted, all nurses in Mashonaland East will strike.

"We have been requested to advise your office that should the suspended nurses’ suspensions not be lifted within 48 hours, all nurses within Mashonaland East will go on strike," the letter reads.
The ZNA also argues that investigations and disciplinary actions within the sector can be conducted without suspending health workers and withholding their salaries, which it considers unfair.
The association’s leadership has expressed readiness to engage urgently with the relevant authorities to find a resolution.
The threat of a strike comes at a time when health workers are already demoralised, while the government seeks ways to motivate employees.
The ZNA executive committee, led by President Enock Dongo, has urged authorities to consider the contents of the letter, work towards a resolution, and prevent further escalation.
