Zimbabwe’s postal service is entering a new digital era, with a bold vision to transform post offices into technology-driven community hubs under the Zimpost 2026–2030 Strategy, launched this week by the Minister of Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services, Tatenda Mavetera.
Speaking at the strategy workshop launch, Minister Mavetera said the future of postal services lies in digital innovation, smart systems, and people-centered service delivery.
"The future of postal services is digital, smart, and people-focused,” said Mavetera. “From AI-powered systems and e-commerce platforms to community internet hubs and e-government service desks — Zimpost is being repositioned to serve every citizen, everywhere.”
The new five-year strategic plan aims to redefine Zimpost’s role in the digital economy by integrating technology into logistics, expanding digital access across communities, and modernizing postal operations.

At the heart of the strategy is a commitment to ensure digital access for all citizens, reposition post offices as technology gateways for communities, and deliver modern, efficient, tech-enabled logistics and services.
The minister said the government’s ongoing national broadband rollout, digital skills training programmes, and postal policy reforms will reinforce Zimpost’s transformation into a driver of digital inclusion and innovation.
Zimpost’s new strategy seeks to create a digitally empowered upper middle-income economy. By leveraging ICTs and expanding online service platforms, Zimpost aims to support small businesses, rural entrepreneurs, and young innovators across the country.
"A digital Zimbabwe is rising — and Zimpost is at the heart of it,” Mavetera emphasized.
The workshop brought together postal executives, policymakers, and technology partners to map out implementation frameworks for the new strategic vision, marking a key step toward a smart, connected Zimbabwe.
