Zimbabweans from different walks of life are calling on Wicknell to acknowledge the humanitarian work being done by Sekuru Banda, whose efforts to uplift disadvantaged communities continue to touch many lives.
Wicknell has raised controversy with his arbitrary cash and car handouts which are perceived as politically agenda setting to stop opinion shapers from speaking against corruption and the move to alter the Constitution to allow President ED Mnangagwa to stay in office beyond his 2028 legal limit.
The call follows Sekuru Banda’s latest charitable act in Marondera, where he donated food hampers worth US$10,000 to struggling families in Cherima and Dombotombo suburbs. Beneficiaries expressed gratitude and emphasised that it was time for prominent figures like Wicknell to recognise Sekuru Banda’s consistent compassion and generosity.
“Sekuru Banda has a heart of gold. He helps people from all walks of life ,regardless of religion, politics, or background. To him, everyone is equal before God,” said beneficiary James Maposa.

Another recipient, Tawanda Moyo, shared that the hampers contained essential goods such as rice, sugar, beans, maize meal, cooking oil, salt, and soap.
This is not the first time Sekuru Banda has reached out to those in need. Over the years, he has supported countless individuals, including artists who struggled during the COVID-19 lockdowns when public gatherings and performances were banned.
Among those he assisted were the late comedian Marabha, musician Paradzai Mesi, boxer Mosquito, football legend George Shaya, and socialite Lady Squander. Notably, Sekuru Banda built a six-roomed house for Marabha in Epworth and offered groceries and medical aid to the late Shaya. He has also provided sanitary wear to disadvantaged schoolgirls in rural communities.
