Lafarge Cement Zimbabwe (LACZ) has announced the resignation of Mr Shepherd Shonhiwa from the Board of Directors in a position he assumed at the beginning of 2022.

Shonhiwa was appointed to the Board of Directors of LACZ on January 1, 2022.

“The Company would like to announce the resignation of Mr. Shepherd Shonhiwa from the Board of Directors with effect from 31 December 2022.

“He sat on the Nomination and Remuneration Committee as well as the Safety, Health & Environment and Corporate Social Responsibility Committee.

“Mr. Shonhiwa served with distinction and diligence during his stint on the Company’s Board of Directors. We wish him well in his future endeavours,” said a statement from the Acting company secretary, Arnold Chikazhe.

Shonhiwa becomes the second board member to resign after Ms. Gloria E. Zvaravanhu, on December 20, 2022, stepped down from the Board of Directors as Chairperson of the Audit Committee.

Ms. Zvaravanhu had been appointed on May 21, 2020.

Lafarge last week announced that some processes of the company have been affected after some persons and companies linked to major shareholder Fossil Mines Pvt Limited were sanctioned by the US Office for Foreign Assets Control.

The Company however, assured stakeholders that measures were being taken to ensure that business operations continue to run smoothly.
