Tsholotsho Man Jailed for Assault and Violent Threats

A 43-year-old man from Soluswe Line in Tsholotsho has been sentenced to 12 months in prison after being convicted on two counts of making threats of violence and one count of assault.

Ezekiel Ndlovu appeared before Tsholotsho magistrate Victor Mpofu facing charges stemming from two separate incidents that occurred at a local homestead earlier this month.

The court heard that on November 10, 2025, while socialising at a homestead in Soluswe Line, Ndlovu had a misunderstanding with a male villager. In a fit of rage, he allegedly picked up an axe and threatened to kill the man, prompting others to intervene.

Five days later, on November 15, Ndlovu returned to the same homestead and issued similar threats, this time targeting the homeowner. During the same incident, he assaulted a third man by striking him once on the left leg with an iron bar, intending to cause serious bodily harm.

All three victims reported the matter to the police, leading to Ndlovu’s arrest.

In sentencing, Magistrate Mpofu said the offences were serious and involved escalating violence, leaving the court with no option but to impose a custodial sentence.

Ndlovu was sentenced to 12 months in prison, effective immediately.
