
Zimbabwean vocalist Vusa Mkhaya is set to perform at the 2025 German Africa Award ceremony on Wednesday at the Allianz Forum in Berlin.
Event organisers said Mkhaya will deliver a specially curated performance as a duo, appearing alongside Austrian pianist Roland Guggenbichler in what they described as a powerful fusion of Zimbabwean vocal excellence and world-class piano artistry.
The German Africa Award, presented annually by the Deutsche Afrika Stiftung, is recognised as one of Europe’s leading honours for African achievers. The foundation said the award celebrates exceptional African leaders and changemakers who have contributed to democracy, peace, human rights, sustainable development, scientific innovation, culture, environmental protection, and social progress.

The 2025 ceremony will also honour Zimbabwean activist Namatai Kwekweza. Organisers highlighted her work in advancing constitutionalism, human rights, and youth political participation, noting that her leadership through the WELEAD Trust continues to inspire a new generation of civic actors across the continent.
Mkhaya’s performance is expected to showcase Zimbabwe’s growing cultural footprint on international stages, while Kwekweza’s recognition underscores the country’s rising influence in youth-led governance and civic activism.
Vusa Mkhaya is a Zimbabwean singer, songwriter, composer, and producer, best known as a member of the award-winning vocal trio, INSINGIZI.
