Son convicted, remanded in custody for sentencing

A 13-year-old boy from Bulawayo, fresh from completing his Grade 7 final exams, appeared in court on Monday after admitting to stealing a substantial amount of money from his family and spending it recklessly.
The teenager, whose identity is withheld for legal reasons, confessed to taking US$1,500 and R1,500 savings his mother had been setting aside to purchase a residential stand. He then joined a friend on a spending spree, splurging the money on new clothes, gaming sessions, and drinks at a local bar called Hashtag.
