Zimbabwe international, Macauley Bonne, is being linked with a transfer to Sheffield Wednesday following the mutual termination of his contract with Queens Park Rangers.

Alternatively, he could make a return to Charlton Athletic, the club that loaned him to QPR.

Formed in 1867, Wednesday appears to be in need of the services of the forward to bolster their chances of making a come-back to the premiership from which they were relegated way back in 2000.

Since then, they have been playing in League One which is the third tier of the English football league system.

“The Owls,” as Wednesday is known, remain one of the most successful teams in English football, having won four league titles, three FA Cups, one League Cup and one FA Community Shield.

They also competed in UEFA cup competitions on four occasions, reaching the quarter-finals of the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in 1963.

Beginning 2013, Bonne, 27, has had a colourful football career in England where he has managed to make a total 331 appearances in League 1, the National League and Championships. He has scored a total 92 goals.

He was born in England to Zimbabwean parents, and is eligible to represent both England and Zimbabwe national teams at international level. Bonne made his debut for the Zimbabwe under-23 side in a friendly match against a full-strength Morocco national team on 16 November 2014.
