The Confederation of African Football has launched an investigation into alleged misconduct involving players and team officials following recent Africa Cup of Nations quarterfinal matches.
The incidents occurred after highly charged encounters between Cameroon and Morocco, as well as Algeria and Nigeria. Both matches were followed by scenes of unrest, with confrontations involving players and officials drawing widespread attention across the continent.
In a statement released on Monday, CAF confirmed that it has reviewed match officials’ reports and examined video footage related to the post-match disturbances. The matters have since been referred to the CAF Disciplinary Board for further consideration.

“CAF has collected match reports and video evidence indicating potentially unacceptable behaviour from some players and officials,” the statement said. “These matters have been referred to the CAF Disciplinary Board, and appropriate action will be taken should any individuals be found guilty of misconduct.”
CAF also revealed that it is assessing footage linked to a separate incident involving members of the media, who allegedly behaved inappropriately within the mixed zone area.
The continental football governing body reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on unprofessional conduct, particularly behaviour directed at match officials or tournament organisers.
“CAF strongly condemns any inappropriate behaviour during its competitions,” the statement added, “and will pursue suitable measures against anyone whose actions fall short of the standards expected at CAF events.”
