Zimbabwe’s export sector heads into ZimTrade’s flagship conference buoyed by a sharp rise in value-added exports, underscoring growing momentum in manufactured goods despite broader economic pressures.
Official figures show exports of value-added products increased by 29 percent, rising from US$404 million between January and November 2024 to US$522 million over the same period in 2025, a performance ZimTrade says reflects improved competitiveness among local producers.
Against this backdrop, ZimTrade has rescheduled the Exporters Conference and Awards to February 20, 2026, at the ZITF grounds in Bulawayo, positioning the event as a platform to consolidate recent gains.

“Our goal is to sustain and accelerate this momentum in value-added exports,” said ZimTrade chief executive Allan Majuru, adding that growth will depend on tighter coordination between policy direction and business execution.
“Strategic alignment between government policy and business execution is critical. This conference is the definitive platform to forge that collaboration and set our national export agenda for the year,” Majuru said.
The conference is expected to draw exporters seeking clarity on policy, regional trade opportunities and access to global value chains, with President Emmerson Mnangagwa attending as guest of honour alongside Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister Professor Amon Murwira.
Majuru said the meeting will also give exporters direct access to national leadership and international experts. “It will provide exporters with a unique opportunity to engage directly with national leadership on policy and practice,” he said.
The event will conclude with the Exporters Awards Gala, recognising firms from small enterprises to major exporters, with the Intra-Africa Trade Award highlighting companies advancing Zimbabwe’s participation in continental trade under the AfCFTA.
