Man Sentenced to 9 Years for Armed Funeral Parlour Robbery

 

A 34-year-old man from Cowdray Park has been sentenced to nine years in prison by the Tredgold Regional Magistrates’ Court for his role in an armed robbery at a Bulawayo funeral parlour.

Clifford Desmond Nare was convicted for the February 1, 2025 incident, which occurred at Kings and Queens Funeral Services in Kelvin North.

Nare and his accomplices — Cordias Nkomo, Sipho Ncube and Dumisani Ndlovu — allegedly broke into the premises armed with pistols and a silver sword.

 During the robbery, one of the security guards was struck above the right eye with a pistol butt, while both guards were tied up using their own shoelaces.

While Nare kept watch outside, his accomplices forced entry through a window and stole US$3,608, R130, a Huawei Y62 cellphone valued at US$110 and an Exide battery worth US$80.

The total value of the stolen property was US$3,798 and R130. Property worth US$110 was recovered.

Ncube and Ndlovu have since died, while Nkomo remains at large.
