Zim Cricket Squad Returns After India Disruptions

The Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) has confirmed that the senior men’s national team is now en route home from India following recent travel disruptions that delayed their departure after the ICC Men's T20 World Cup.

Zimbabwe Cricket said alternative travel arrangements had been secured after transit challenges affected the squad’s initial return plans.

“Zimbabwe Cricket confirms that the Zimbabwe senior men’s team participating in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 are on their way home from India after the International Cricket Council secured alternative travel arrangements following recent transit disruptions,” said ZC Media and Communications Manager Darlington Majonga.

The cricket body indicated that logistical adjustments had resulted in the team returning in phases.

“Due to flight availability and revised routing, the squad will return to Harare in batches,” said Darlington Majonga.

According to the association, the first group of players departed India on Wednesday, while the final contingent is expected to leave on Friday afternoon.

“The first group of players departed India today, Wednesday, while the final group is scheduled to leave on Friday afternoon,” he said.

The travel hiccups come at the conclusion of Zimbabwe’s campaign at the global T20 showcase, with supporters closely following developments regarding the team’s safe return.

Despite the disruption, cricket authorities have assured fans that all players and officials are safe and arrangements have been streamlined to ensure their smooth arrival back home.

 

Zimbabwe Cricket said further communication would be issued if necessary as the staggered return continues.
