Chinyani departs Grand Legacy after brief stint

Saint Collin Chinyani has stepped down as head coach of Grand Legacy Football Club, bringing an end to his first senior coaching role after just seven weeks in charge.

His resignation, dated 27 April 2026 and addressed to club president Panganai Nyamayaro, was submitted “with a heavy heart,” according to the coach. The club later confirmed his departure, stating he had resigned with immediate effect citing personal reasons.

Chinyani leaves after overseeing six matches in the Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League, recording three wins and three losses.

“It has been a privilege to lead the team,” he said in his letter. “We assembled a strong and competitive squad that has begun to make a significant impact in the region.”

His tenure was marked by a clear contrast between home and away performances.

At St Paul’s Musami Stadium, Grand Legacy were dominant, winning all three matches without conceding a goal. Victories included a 2-0 win over Tenax CS, a 6-0 thrashing of Power FC, and a narrow 1-0 triumph against Buffaloes FC in his final game.

Away from home, however, results proved difficult to come by. The Golden Boys lost all three of their matches on the road, going down 3-0 to Green Fuel FC before suffering 1-0 defeats to Deportivo La Murambinda and Bikita Minerals FC.

Overall, the team scored nine goals and conceded five during his spell in charge.
