ZAOGA Forward in Faith Ministries International today commemorated Ezekiel Guti Legacy Day in honour of the late, Archbishop Professor Ezekiel H. Guti, with thousands gathering for a day centred on wellness, worship and youth empowerment.

Held under the theme “Honouring the Legacy of Archbishop Ezekiel H. Guti – Ezekiel Guti Legacy Day,” the commemorations brought together church members and guests from different provinces and countries to celebrate the life and contributions of the church founder.

Although Ezekiel Guti Day is officially marked annually on May 5, the date of Archbishop Guti’s birth, this year’s main commemorative activities were held on May 2 at Grange Christian School and ZAOGA Braeside Church in Harare.

The day began with a Walkathon and Half-Marathon featuring 2.5km, 5km, 10km and 21km races aimed at promoting healthy living, unity and community engagement.

Speaking during the event, Dr Dorcas Jaricha, daughter of Archbishop Ezekiel. Guti, described the commemorations as a celebration of a man who dedicated his life to serving others.

“Today is the day we celebrate our founding father Archbishop E. Guti. We celebrate the 100 years that he lived and 75 years of preaching the gospel non-stop. We celebrate a life of sacrifice and a man who gave everything for the sake of others,” she said.

Dr Jaricha added that the walkathon and musical celebrations reflected Archbishop Guti’s long-standing emphasis on wellness and healthy living.
