Sabi Out for Revenge as Tigers Chase Top Three

Revenge, redemption and valuable league points will be on the line when Sabi Gold Mine FC travel to Mbizo Stadium to face Grain Tigers in a Central Region Soccer League Matchday 11 encounter on Saturday.

The fixture comes just weeks after Grain Tigers edged the Golden Boys 1-0 in the Munhumutapa Challenge Cup at the same venue, setting the stage for a compelling rematch between a side chasing a place in the top three and another desperate to revive its campaign.

The encounter pits two teams with contrasting ambitions against each other. Grain Tigers, sitting fourth on the table, are pushing to break into the top three, while Sabi Gold Mine are searching for a spark to revive a difficult campaign that has left them in 13th position.

Despite the psychological boost of that cup triumph, Grain Tigers coach Kudzai Mhandire insists his side cannot afford to take anything for granted.

"In a positive way, yes, it does give us confidence, but it can also bite us on the soft spot if we let our guard down and allow complacency to creep in. Confidence is a good thing, but it can also be your downfall," said Mhandire.

The Grain Tigers mentor believes league football presents a different challenge to cup competition.

"A league match has three possible results whereas a cup game has one outcome. It's about patience and the execution of roles in a league match," he said.

Mhandire has urged his players to approach Saturday's encounter with the right mindset despite the previous victory.
