Footballers Rally Behind Magalane

Footballers in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League and former footballers, have rallied behind CAPS United goalkeeper Wallace Magalane following his public fallout with the club, offering words of encouragement as he deals with the emotional impact of the dispute.

The messages of solidarity come after CAPS United president Farai Jere announced that Magalane would remain at home while continuing to receive his salary. Although the club has maintained that the goalkeeper will still be paid, fellow footballers believe the situation has taken an emotional toll on the player.

Although Footballers Union of Zimbabwe (FUZ) also confirmed that it is closely monitoring the ongoing dispute between Magalane and CAPS United, several players took to social media to encourage the goalkeeper to remain strong during the difficult period.

TelOne FC captain Frank Makarati said: "Chin up Walaza, it shall be well bro."

Ngezi Platinum Stars midfielder Marvelous Mukumba also backed the goalkeeper, saying "Mistakes are proof that you are trying. Chin up big man, all will be well."

FC Hunters player Shangwa Langwa added that: "Life of a goalkeeper. Be strong brother man."

Former Warriors and CAPS United striker Brian Badza said situations involving players should be handled professionally and internally to protect those involved.

"For me, matters that happen within the club should be dealt with internally. If a decision has to be communicated publicly, it should be done professionally without exposing unnecessary details about individuals. Young players, especially, deserve to be protected while they learn and develop. Every player makes mistakes, that's part of football and how we improve," said Badza.

Former CAPS United and Dynamos midfielder Cephas Chimedza reminded Magalane that one mistake does not erase his ability or contributions to the club.

"Mistakes don't define you as a player. We celebrated when you made match-winning saves. You are still that talented keeper. Top players and goalkeepers have made mistakes and their teams still triumphed. Remember CAPS United of 2004. Head up, Wallace," said Chimedza.

The wave of support from current and former footballers reflects the strong sense of unity within Zimbabwean football
