Zimbabwe has introduced its first digitised Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Case Management System in a move expected to transform how sexual and gender-based violence cases are monitored, analysed and prosecuted.
The specialised digital platform, now housed at the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), will enable real-time reporting, advanced data analysis and evidence-based decision-making.
It is the country's first prosecutorial GBV database and has been designed to integrate with the Judicial Service Commission's system and other national platforms.
The system is expected to give prosecutors a clearer picture of how GBV cases progress through the justice system, strengthening case monitoring while improving the availability of reliable data to support prosecutions and policy decisions.

Prosecutor-General Justice Loyce Matanda-Moyo said the digitised platform marked a major step in advancing e-justice and reflected Zimbabwe's commitment to modernising the prosecution of sexual and gender-based violence cases. She said the model could also serve as a blueprint for other countries in the SADC region.
Deputy Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Nobert Mazungunye said the platform would streamline justice delivery, improve institutional efficiency and help ensure that survivors of gender-based violence were not disadvantaged by administrative processes.
Ministry of Women's Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Permanent Secretary Dr Mavis Sibanda said the development strengthened the implementation of Zimbabwe's laws by improving accountability and ensuring that justice institutions remained responsive to the needs of GBV survivors.
UN Women Country Representative Fadzai Traquino said the system should become a foundation for strengthening justice, promoting equality and protecting women and girls, adding that technology should improve outcomes for survivors rather than simply modernise institutions.
The launch of the digital case management system makes Zimbabwe the first country in the region to establish a digitised prosecutorial GBV database, with officials expressing hope that the model will be replicated across the SADC region as efforts to strengthen the response to gender-based violence continue.
