A 26-year-old Kadoma man appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Court this week facing robbery charges after he and two alleged accomplices were overpowered by a homeowner during a break-in that left him injured and unconscious.
David Dhaka appeared in court on allegations of robbery.
He was arrested at the scene after the complainant fought back, while his suspected accomplices, identified as Makiyi and Magaya, remain at large.
The State alleges that the incident occurred on August 16, 2026, at around midnight at the residence of John Kasinahama.
According to prosecutors, Dhaka, together with Makiyi and Magaya, went to the complainant’s home armed with knives and torches and forced their way inside.
Once inside, the trio allegedly demanded money and other valuables and threatened to stab the complainant if he did not comply.

The court heard that as the men searched the house, Kasinahama managed to grab the knife Dhaka was holding.
The weapon fell to the floor, and Kasinahama picked it up.
A struggle then ensued between the two men.
Prosecutors told the court that during the scuffle, Kasinahama stabbed Dhaka once in the neck, once in the chin and once below the armpit.
Dhaka collapsed and lost consciousness, leading to his arrest.
The State further alleged that Kasinahama then pursued the two fleeing suspects.
During the chase, he allegedly stabbed one of them in the back. The knife was left embedded in the suspect’s back as he disappeared into the darkness.
Investigations are continuing to locate the remaining suspects.
