A 20-year-old man from Mberengwa Village, Chief Mketi died on Tuesday after being after being electrocuted by an electric cable that supported a power pylon.
The incident happened at Chiturike Business Centre where Joel Sibanda was herding cattle.
Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident.
“ZRP confirms a sudden death report by electrocution. The incident occurred on January 26, 2023 at around 1pm.
The deceased, Joel Sibanda was herding cattle at Chiturike Business Centre, Mberengwa in the company of Patrick Moyo, 18, from the same village.
“Sibanda is said to have touched a cable which supports a power pylon and was electrocuted. He was rushed to Musume Mission Hospital where he was tragically pronounced dead upon arrival,” Mahoko said.
Meanwhile, a Chinhoyi man was this morning electrocuted while mowing the lawn at his house In Mapako low-density suburb.
According to reports, the man got in contact with a naked live wire around 8am today.
He was pronounced dead on arrival at Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital.
