Industry and Commerce Minister Sekai Nzenza signed a number of bilateral cooperation documents with the Iranian Minister of Cooperatives, Labour, and Social Welfare Solat Mortazavi during the Ninth Meeting of the Joint Economic Cooperation Committee in Tehran.
The meeting, which began on February 1, saw both sides reach agreements over a variety of fields.
Mortazavi predicted that trade exchanges between Iran and Zimbabwe would increase to more than US$500 million throughout the year.
Plans have been made for cooperation in various fields which include medicine, export of agricultural machinery and petrochemicals.
Mortazavi said the deal will pave the way for economic cooperation and promoting trade exchanges between the two countries.
“The trade exchanges between Iran and Zimbabwe increase to more than $500 million throughout the year.
“The agreement will create a platform for developing economic cooperation and improving the level of trade exchanges between the two countries,” he said.
He added that Iran is ready to share its experiences in various fields with Zimbabwe.
Hon Nzenza confirmed there are interactions in the field of cooperation between the two countries and there will be the necessary cooperation in the development of the road map.
Iran has made major investments in Zimbabwe, particularly in the agriculture and textile sectors.
