Nominees for Zim Visual Arts Exhibition awards announced

The National Gallery of Zimbabwe has announced the artists nominated for the Zimbabwe Visual Arts Exhibition set to be held on February 10 in Harare.

Keith Zenda, Petros Mwenga and Daniel Chirumure have been nominated in the painting category while Rickson Zavare, Victor Nyakauru, Collen Nyanhongo and Ngonidzashe Tsiga are nominees for the Sculpture and Sculptural Installations.

Damien Grant, Johnson Mugabe and Semina Mpofu will battle it out in the Mixed Media category.

In Architecture, Stone Beattie Munodawafa Architects and Tinashe Muskwe will compete while Grace Nyahangare and Dumisani Ndlovhu are competing in the Printmaking category.

In a statement, NAGZ said the National Gallery of Zimbabwe’s Board of Trustees Chairman, Justice Maphios Cheda, will grace the event as Guest of Honour.

“From each of the categories, the third, second and first prize shall be offered, and a Commendation for the best young artist will feature.

“The most sterling artist shall be awarded the Zimbabwe Visual Arts Awards Grand Prize,” reads the statement.

The exhibition has been on show since October 2022, and has been graced by over 2000 visitors, and now, the revelation of the winning artists shall be unveiled.
