Mabvuku residents are convinced that the blood-like liquid oozing out of the ground is a sign of supernatural manifestation with reports that a man who attempted to find the source is now in trouble.
“A man who tried to unearth the source of this liquid using his bare hands is now experiencing excruciating pain,” a resident told this writer.
It is said the man had dared to use his bare hands removing soil from where part of the liquid had gathered.

When this reporter visited the area on Saturday, scores of people including kids, were gathered to see the liquid.
Some children who live in Dzvinyu Road which is parallel to the trench said the smell from the discharge is perplexing.
“In the evening the smell is really bad such that you can’t pass through this trench without smelling it but funny enough, during the day, it doesn’t smell,” the kids said.
The residents said they had hoped the blood-life effluence would be washed away by the incessant rains but it has not been so.
“Something is definitely going on here because there we had thought by this time, the liquid would have cleared,” said a resident of Tafara who identified himself as Rasta.
The source of the liquid remains a mystery with some alleging that it could be linked to a woman who mysteriously disappeared years ago:
“Chiri kunetsa mudhara ndechekuti ropa iri kuti toti liquid iyi iri kubuda directly opposite padhen paigara muskana akangoshaikwa some years ago.
“Padhen pavo pemusikana ndeapo (a house along Dzvinyu Road) and hona mudhara zvinhu zvikubuda apa, haaa pane zvimwe.
An elderly man who also joined people who had come to watch the mysterious liquid stood at the trench, shook his head before saying “aya mashura chaiwo, mhosva hairove.”
He refused to clarity his assertion that the blood-like flow is a sign that some sin/crime committed is coming back to haunt the perpetrator, telling this writer:
“My son, I can’t say more lest this bad omen visits my household.”
City of Harare says it has dispatched a team to collect samples and is now awaiting results that should show if there is indeed any blood in the liquid.
