Just a day after being appointed Acting Town Clerk for Gweru City Council and receiving his official vehicle, Livingstone Churu was involved in an accident at the weekend with the state-of-the-art car.
The vehicle, a Toyota Landcruiser, which was purchased for US$176 000 by former Town Clerk Elizabeth Gwatipedza, was declared a write-off.
Churu replaced Vakai Douglas Chikwekwe, who was arrested by ZACC recently over corruption.
Gweru City Council spokesperson Vimbai Chigwaramusee said Churu escaped unhurt in the accident, which occurred near Norton.
