A 23-year-old Shamva man Roberto Mukanwa was trapped to death by a giant tree which was uprooted by a violent storm yesterday evening.
Mukanwa of Mukanwa Village, who was a tout in the mining town died on the spot.
Mashonaland Central provincial police spokesperson Inspector Milton Mundembe confirmed the incident.
It is believed that Mukanwa sought shelter from a makeshift shade which was under the tree.
Another villager, Kelvin Dangarembizi, 32, identified Mukanwa and alerted the police.
Police warned people to avoid seeking shelter under trees, especially during this rainy season as they risked accidents such as this one or being struck by lightning.
