The Zimbabwe Junior National Swimming Championships started today at Chisipite Senior School in Harare.
Speaking to Zim Now, Swimming Zimbabwe Board chairperson, Zanele Nkomazana said the competitions will end on March 12, 2023.
She said there are 181 junior swimmers representing their provinces from all over Zimbabwe in the penultimate gala of the 2023 junior season.
For Bulawayo, the team that is representing the province is made up of 43 swimmers picked from different clubs in the city and the participants are aged between nine and 12 years old.
Harare province managed to field 72 participants.
Bulawayo female swimmer, Mbalenhle Jared will look to continue with the exploits she exhibited at the recently held Senior Nationals where she was the best female swimmer on display.
Recently, Bulawayo province hosted the senior national swimming championships where a total of 275 swimmers from across the country participated.
Meanwhile, Zimbabwe is set to send 20 swimmers at the South Africa National Junior Tour, which will be held at the end of April, eight of them from Bulawayo.
Another 13 swimmers will take part in the South Africa National Championships.
