Zimdancehall stars Killer T and Enzo Ishall will take their act next Saturday to the Ancient City and Caravan Park in Masvingo where they will headline the The Big Dig gig scheduled for Zimbabwe’s oldest city.
Speaking ahead of the gig, event spokesperson and radio personality, Tavita Mpala said the Big Dig is a family event aimed at driving tourism in Masvingo City.
The event, in its first year running, is unique and spoils revellers with music choices from three music stations (digs) playing different genres from 12pm-8 pm until the main event headlined by Killer T, Enzo Ishall and Masvingo’s own Alchemy.
Throwbacks and Rhumba music will dominate the first dig meant for mature revellers while the second and third digs will be for youthful audience with House, Amapiano, Afro beats and Dancehall genres.
Event organiser Garikai Garande said this year’s dig is running under the theme ‘Celebrating the Diversity of Food, Music, and Dance’.
This is Masvingo’s first major outdoor outing since last year’s edition of the Great Zimbabwe Festival hosted by Caravan Park which was headlined by Winky D and Jah Prayzah.
Tickets for the Big Dig are selling for US$5 for early birds, ordinary tickets US$7 and US$10, which includes parking and a cooler box.
Corporates and small businesses have an opportunity for branding and marketing opportunities as at least 4 000 revellers are expected to attend The Big Dig.
“We have also engaged various vendors in Masvingo to cater for over 4 000 people expected to attend the festivities. The vendors will offer 360 booth services, cakes, confectioneries, fast foods, traditional foods, candy floss, popcorn, toffee apple and sweets to mention a few,” said Tavita, adding that their main aim is to drive tourism in Masvingo City after what happened last year at the Lake October Great Zimbabwe Tourism festival.
