Fans express disappointment at sorry state of ablution facilities at NSS

In a case of one seeing a speck in their brother’s eye, but failing to identify a log in their own, the Sports and Recreation Commission seems to be wasting time on non-urgent matters instead of focusing on problems at their doorstep.

A reference in point is the sorry state of ablution facilities at the national Sports Stadium where, ironically, the sports governing body is housed.

This was brought to light during a Premier Soccer League match between Simba Bhora and FC Platinum with fans struggling to relieve themselves because of the unhygienic conditions of the rest rooms.

And the threat of a cholera outbreak does not make it any better as fans interviewed expressed disappointment at the sorry state of the facilities.

“It is so shameful that the commission wants to address national problems such as the state of affairs at ZIFA but they are failing to maintain their own house. They should be ashamed of themselves,” Said Michael Tapera who had driven from Shamva to support Simba Bhora.

His sentiments were echoed by an FC Platinum fan who said that he cannot risk bringing his kids to the NSS.

“I think the SRC should take a leaf from authorities at Mandava Stadium where we come from. The stadium is clean and you can bring your kids without any worries. I would not do the same in a situation like this one,” said Benjani Mkono who had travelled from Zvishavane for the match.
