All is set for the 12th edition of the Commissioner-General of Police’s 21km road race slated for Masvingo this Saturday.

Masvingo provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa, confirmed the development, saying that Commissioner-General of Police, Godwin Matanga, is expected to officiate at the marathon.

The race, which is being sponsored by insurance giant, Old Mutual, will begin at the Caravan Park at 6am.

Participants will compete in the 21km, 10km and 5km races, which are divided into different categories; wheelchair, masters for 50-59 years, veterans 40-49 years and grand masters for 60-69 years among other categories.

Registration is US$5 or ZWL$5 000 for the 21km marathon and US$2 or ZWL$2 000 for the 10km and 5km races.

The winner of the 21km race will walk away with US$550 while the second to fifth positions have US$400, US$300, US$200 and US$100 prize money respectively.

The wheelchair category the prize money is US$300 first prize, US$150 second prize and US$100 third prize.
