Zimbabwe international and France-based Marshall Munetsi has, for the second time, publicly voiced his opinion about the current state of football in Zimbabwe with an aim to push for the reversal of the ban imposed on Zimbabwe football by the world governing body, FIFA.
ZIFA remains suspended following what FIFA labelled interference by third parties of the national association’s affairs.
But Munetsi, using his membership of the FIFPro’s Global Player Council, is reported to have put to the fore the woes bedevilling Zimbabwean soccer as a result of exclusion from the global football family.
The recent meeting was held at the FIFPro House in Hoofddorp, the Netherlands, and also had in attendance the FIFA Director Member Associations Africa Gelson Fernandes.
Fernandes twitted after the meeting: “@MarshallMunetsi is a member of the #GlobalPlayerCouncil and a passionate advocate for Zimbabwean football.
“Yesterday at #FIFPRO House, we FIFA joined him in a productive exchange on the state of football in the country alongside #FIFPRO, the Footballers Union of Zimbabwe.”
Reports from Netherlands say the 27-year-old Munetsi, who plays for Stade de Reims in the French Ligue 1, took time to put the Zimbabwe issue on the table, this following another discussion on the local football’s situation that he previously had with some top FIFA officials at The Best FIFA Football Awards held last month.
